Okay, so today I ll kite the Guincho, a wind will blow about 10 m, waves will be about 2 m high, nearly ideal for starting Off. Guincho is next to the hills. From ordinary summer 5bft increase to the 7 and 8, sometimes it is a decent massacre. I plan the next days, I am supremely impatient. My prediction speaks of calm windless tomorrow and that I prefer at this point. I spent the last 15 years a lot of time sitting around in the other places and waiting for the wind. Portugal gives me more. Incredible sport weather conditions and for every level of riding. Decide, tomorrow I take paddle board and go to Sao Pedro Cascais which is a small beach on the half way to Lisbon, where they form a beautiful ripples.
It is an ideal place for beginners and advanced. Paddle board came to us from Hawaii, after all, like any sport that has something to do with surfing. (Certainly I now hear my buddies who will convince me that they were the first in the world, on the Danube ... :)). For me the ideal that I do not have to worry about a long learn of classic surfing. Stand upright on a large surfboard and paddle in your hand, with which you move forward. Sometimes you have to be on your knees trying to catch a wave. So you are the sea, the feeling is incredible and it is like virus.
Who wants to try surfing he or she can. You can generally borrow surf or kite for a day for around 20 €. The possibilities are many and surfs are actually everywhere, really everywhere. It's like football for us, whether it is winter or the heat, you will see the pinhead surfers in neoprene from the water. Neoprene can be borrowed everywhere and who wants to own one, has a million options from neoprene for 50 €, I ll recommend Decathlon stores, up to 400 € like Quicksilver or Oneil wetsuits.
However, traditional surfing mecca is about 1h and 20 minutes by car along the highway from Cascais and the place is called Peniche. Peniche, was once a small fishing village, now lives surfing. Perfect waves all levels in all directions swell (swell waves is caused by a storm on the seas, and after a few hours neither days come to the coast) provide the perfect conditions for your progress on a surfboard. They are visited by thousands of Germans, British and French, who are learning to surf. There are many surfing schools and solid money is there to sign up and learn in a group with the coach.
Sun plans to shine for the whole week so I will have enough water around, and I want to pass some relax. Golf will be just perfect! Within a radius of 50 km from Cascais is about 20 golf courses. All, repeat, all courses are of top quality, if you are accustomed to Slovak conditions, it is a three stars or above. The only course that I would like so compared is the Penati in Šajdíkove Humence. Courses are open year round and you can select different levels of play from the classic English courses to open links courses of high wind.
Prices courses are ordering through the site, there I can recommend teetime.pt 40 to 65 € and if you are going without notice it is about 60-100 €, depending on the season. In Portugal, the season is high from February to May, summer is offseason because of wind. On the green you can go in jeans, casual dressed, no one is deal with it like in Slovakia, the golf here is playing a bit longer and because it is common in Portugal like any other sport.
My short traveling of Portugal I would finished with cycling. It is a little funny topic because I was about to bike in Portugal for about three years but many sporting opportunities this country offers me, I'm still not allowed. I will therefore focus more on the combination of what I've heard from my buddies who used to go on bike regularly and my knowledge. Near Cascais and Sintra is a mountain which is a protected area and you will see why it should be protected. Lush vegetation, centuries-old temples, monks, mansion of millionaires, actors and people with blue blood and many bike routes are certainly enough to guarantee a great experience. You come out of Cascais and explore the promenade along the sea, going about 10 km and you climb into the mountains of Sintra through the village Malveira da Serra.
You walk into the forest and adventure begins. You have a choice of routes of varying difficulty and length kilometers ahead. Of course you can book directly your bike in bicycle rental or even it is possible that you landed in one place and they will come to you on the other. If you do not still enough or you are currently affected Sagan performance, take road bike, rush out of Malveira Serra da Sintra hills to the mountains and point it to the town of Sintra. On the left hand you will pass Cabo da Roca, the cape, which is the westernmost point in Europe. View of it is colossal, view from high cliffs are worthy for photos. City of Kings with an incredible romance in the heart of Sintra will give you rest and you can enjoy the ancient center or the various monuments around this jewel of Portugal.
There is a lot, what would I wrote about sports opportunities this westernmost country of the European continent. Visit this incredible country, every season has its own charm and offers unique opportunities for enjoyment for very solid cost. It's worth it!
